Latest Activities
We all have our own reasons for wanting to draw/paint, for coming together, having a chat and being able to, for a while, indulge and loose oneself in an activity that stimulates the mind and contributes to our greater sense of well-being.
At Burwash Monday Painters we are to be able to come together each week and feel confident to openly express ourselves on paper/canvas within a friendly, non-judgemental environment. There is much to be said about what the benefits are to one’s mental health, of spending time amongst others with similar interests.
During February 2025 we had a session considering the work of Wassily Kandinsky. We looked at various paintings, explored colour, appreciated Kandinsky's interpretation of landscapes, found motives within his work and investigated these for ourselves. Many of our artists, were inspired to create their own pieces under the influence of this afternoon's brief 'brush' with Lyrical Expressionism.
Kandinsky believed that:
"the painter’s expressive aim should be both a melodic and symphonic composition combining purely abstract forms and colour in order to create a spiritual expression and well-being of the inner soul, “the inner need.”
Clearly the afternoon was enjoyed by many and here are some of our triumphs.
